Executive Director
John Lavallee
was born in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba and grew up in
St.Ambroise; where he currently resides with his wife. They have
3 children; all of whom now live and work in Winnipeg.
Graduating
with a Bachelor of Teaching Degree from Brandon University, John
has since taught at various grade levels in Manitoba & British
Columbia. He has also delivered adult education courses in
different communities and colleges.
Hilda McKay

Administrator
A member
and resident of the Sagkeeng First Nation, MB, Hilda went to
Kikinamawin Centre which was affiliated with Red River College for
her training in Human Resource Support Worker and Community-based
Economic Resources. She has many years of experience working
in administration; having worked with the MB First Nations RAMB,
Southern Employment & Training, and First Nations Disability
Association of MB, Inc.
Cheryl Edwards –
Executive Assistant
Cheryl
Edwards is from Sagkeeng First Nation and is a proud mom of two
sons. Cheryl has recently completed a “Business, Accounting &
Management” certificate program at Red River and is currently
taking Mediation Skills Training at Mediation Services. Cheryl completed
some courses at Assiniboine College in the "Aboriginal Community Development"
program; as well as courses at The Centre
for Indigenous Environmental Education (University of Manitoba)
in the Environmental Education program. Cheryl has a history of
Grassroots organizing and working with Aboriginal Youth.

Mike Alexander

/ Community Justice Worker
Mike has five years experience in Victim Offender mediation,
conciliation, as well as various circle processes. In addition to
practicing restorative justice, Mike has coached participants in a
variety of Conflict Resolution trainings offered through Mediation
Services.
Joanne Kakewash
- Community Justice Worker / Intake
Joanne started with Onashowewin in August of 2004, as the
receptionist and through training and on the job experience has
worked her way to the position of Justice Worker. This has
been her goal since starting with Onashowewin to work directly with
clients and through hard work and dedication, she has achieved her
goal as a Justice Worker, which she loves. Her family
originates from the Pine Creek First Nation, but Joanne was born and
raised in Winnipeg. Previous to Onashowewin, she gained over
five years experience in the administrative area, from Executive
Assistant to Office Manager.
Crystel Maclean-Grisdale
- Community Justice Worker
Crystel is
from the Brokenhead Ojibway First Nation in Manitoba and possesses a
4-yr Bachelors Degree in Conflict Resolution studies from the
University of Winnipeg. She possesses extensive experience as
a Community Coordinator, volunteer and researcher having worked the
former Ganootamage Justice Services of Winnipeg, Inc. and the
Vancouver Aboriginal Transformative Justice Services in British
Columbia.
Jason
Harper

Community Justice Worker
Jason Harper came to
Onashowewin in May 2006 to complete the required practicum hours
for a Certificate in Applied Counselling at Red River College .
Jason continued on with Onashowewin and is now working as a
Community Justice worker. Jason has always had the desire to work
with Aboriginal people in a helping capacity and brings a smile to
everyone's face with his quick wit and humour.
Jason possesses a certificate in Applied Counselling from Red River
College.
Jessica Paul

Community Justice Worker
Gained 7 years of extensive customer service experience working with a
large corporation, Jessica has spoken publicly to school
groups as a role model. She has completed a lot of volunteer
work for Junior Achievement of Canada conducting presentations about
staying in school and teaching life skills.
